Is this just for appliance retailers?
No. ZimLayby works for any category where layby makes sense — furniture, fashion, electronics, hardware, building materials, beauty, you name it. Appliance & Home in Harare is our first live retailer, but the platform is category-agnostic.
What does it cost to start?
Nothing. The Starter plan is free forever for up to 20 active laybys. Move to Business ($49/mo) when you outgrow that. No credit card required for Starter.
Do my customers need to download an app?
No. Everything works on the WhatsApp and web browser they already use. Customers apply via your branded link, get confirmations on WhatsApp, and check their balance on a normal web page. Zero app installs.
How do you handle the multi-currency mess?
Every payment is captured in the original currency (USD, ZiG) AND normalised to USD using the day's rate. Your reports always read in USD so reconciliation is clean. Customers see balances in USD.
What if I have hundreds of laybys already on paper?
We'll bulk import them for you during onboarding. CSV or even a photo of your exercise book — we'll get it on the system.
Does ZimLayby hold my customers' money?
No. Money flows directly from your customer to you. ZimLayby is software that tracks the transactions, not a bank that custodies funds. We charge you a software fee. This keeps us out of fintech regulation and keeps your cash with you.
What about fulfillment — when do I need it?
Only when you want it. Most retailers want to keep storage and delivery in-house. Some — especially online-first sellers — would rather outsource. Our Millennial Ultra Solutions warehouse in Highlands handles pick, pack, deliver, and returns on demand.
Is my data safe?
Yes. HTTPS everywhere, encrypted passwords, role-based access, rate-limited logins, full audit log, daily database backups, and bank-grade security headers. We've hardened to the level of paid B2B SaaS.
